Experience in Japan

I lived in Kyoto, Japan for seven years (from 2003 to 2010) working for a local Japanese electronic components manufacturer in their Intellectual Property department; my Japanese language studies/acquisition were during this time.

While in Japan, I specialized in patent applications related to image recognition and pattern recognition algorithms, networking, network application sharing, bio-medical sensing and optical waveguide technologies.

Translating and Interpreting

I have been translating and interpreting professionally since 2010, using my training in Computer Science as well as my working knowledge of patent prosecution (from application to registration) procedures in the United States, Europe (EPC countries), Japan, China and with the WIPO (PCT).

I return to Japan semi-regularly for conferences, and to meet with clients.
